The South Asian Network for Development and Environmental Economics (SANDEE)is a regional network that uses economic tools and analyses to address South Asia's environmental challenges. SANDEE works in seven countries - Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
 

Board Members

Anna Maria Oltorp, Head, Asia Region, SIDA manages several research networks on environment and development economics.
 
David Glover is Program Leader for Environmental Economics at Canada's International Development Research Centre (IDRC). From 1993 to 2006, Dr. Glover was the founding Director of the Economy and Environment Program for Southeast Asia, which supports training and research in environmental economics in ten Asian countries. Previously, Dr. Glover was Director of the Economic Policy Program of IDRC, where he developed several multi-country and multi-donor research networks. He holds a PhD in Political Economy, and has written or edited some thirty books and articles dealing with environment, agricultural policy, trade and structural adjustment.

Priya Shyamsundar is Program Director for the South Asian Network for Development and Environmental Economics (SANDEE). As part of its various activities, SANDEE has supported over 60 research projects in the area of poverty and natural resource management, valuation of non-market goods, and the economics of pollution management. Priya previously served as a consultant for many years to the Environment Department of the World Bank. Most recently, she led a team that was responsible for a new World Bank book on poverty and environment. Prior to her work with SANDEE and the Bank, Priya served as Senior Program Officer for the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation and as Research Associate at the Institute of Social Studies Trust. Priya's research interests range over a number of topics within environment and development economics. She has a Ph.D. in Environmental Economics from Duke University.
 
Sir Partha Dasgupta is a renowned scholar with numerous contributions to a variety of sub fields in economics. He is Frank Ramsey Professor of Economics at the University of Cambridge, and also a Fellow of St. John's College, Cambridge. He has served as Chairman of the Faculty of Economics and Politics, University of Cambridge since 1997. Partha Dasgupta jointly with Karl-Göran Mäler, was awarded the prestigious Volvo Environment Award in 2002 for his outstanding and pioneering contribution to environmental and resource economics. He is a member of the External Advisory Council of the World Bank Institute, Washington, DC; Member-at-Large of the Advisory Board of the Millennium Commission, and Member of the External Advisory Board of the Earth Institute, Columbia University, New York.
